St Mary's Church is on Bishophill Junior in the Micklegate area of York.
There isn't any parking on Bishophill Junior itself, and the streets round about have mainly residents-only parking. York Council are very efficient at giving tickets. You can pay to park round the corner on Priory Street but both the number of spaces and the amount of time is quite limited. You can park the outside the walls, in Nunnery Lane and walk (5 or 10 minutes'). Here there are more spaces and you can park for longer but it still does fill up and is expensive. If you're coming from outside York, you may wish to try out the the Park and Ride service, which is frequent and cheap, or use the train.
From the Train Station (5 or 10 minutes' walk)
On leaving the station, turn to your left and use the nearest crossing to cross the main road. You are now at the bottom of the city walls. Bear left; the road curves to the right, and goes under the city wall. Once under the bridge, turn right onto Rougier Street, before the road goes over the river. Walk straight along here until you get to a 'T' junction. Turn right, going up the hill. The church on your left here, is St Martin's; at the end of St Martin's wall, turn left along a cobbled walkway. The end of this walkway brings you out onto Bishophill Junior at a rather confusing crossroad, but you should be able to see that if you follow the main street up to your right, there is a church on your right. This is St Mary's.
From the Park and Ride
Use Askham Bar, the Designer Outlet or Monks Cross park and ride sites and, ask the driver to tell you when you get to the Rougier Street stop.
Once on Rougier Street, walk back towards Budgens store (if you reach the city walls, you've gone in the wrong direction and you need to turn round and walk to the other end of the street) at the 'T' junction.
